Nuclear explosions are the most fearsome to people, at or near the top of the list in destructive power, and towards the bottom in deliverability. Getting nukes out of the equation altogether would mean the difference, IMO, between a threat that was potentially overwhelming and one that is manageable.

I agree with the first sentence not with the second.
I realize many if not most folks agree with both. And the potential to escalate that fear is precisely why terrorists want nukes. But getting rid of nukes alone will not make the terrorist threat manageable.

Nukes are a problem but not the only one. People are nonchalant about bio, for example, only because they don't yet understand just how easy it would be to create an enormous mass casualty situation country-wide in a week.

It is easier to focus on Nukes because everyone understands Hiroshima. Fortunately, GW has our military, CDC, Homeland Security and everyone else that needs to be, focused on the entire problem including nuke, bio and chemical.
