People are nonchalant about bio, for example, only because they don't yet understand just how easy it would be to create an enormous mass casualty situation country-wide in a week.

I had lunch yesterday with a friend who offered a much simpler way to bring the country to its knees. All they'd need would be two men teams in a dozen or two locations doing something similar to what the DC snipers did. No sophisticated weapons of any sort required, just a car and a rifle.

You don't need a lot of casualties, just personalized fear of casualties, enough fear to destroy commerce and people's comfort level. No amount of bus searching or dog sniffing can protect us from the DC Sniper type threat.
