The problem for moderate republicans is that radical rightwing-nuts also try to pose as moderate. This degrades credibility. So you can claim to be a moderate but the wingnuts in your party have undermined you.
Continued support for the administration by moderates further undermines the credibility of moderates.

Since the administration is so radical, anyone who believes themselves to be moderate while supporting the administration is either duped, fooling themselves or lying.
