Bush uses the fundmentalists like an army of mental patients, to do his dirty work. To get them behind him Bush had to pretend to be born again, then go speak at Bob Jones University. It worked. Now he has 3,000 rightwing preachers working for him. They're supposed to respect the separation of church and state but of course they'd like the church to rule the state, same as the Taliban.
