Oh really. How about we just dispose of the first amendment or 4th Amendment because on your own honor, "We have lots of problems facing this country that are more important". Thats might big of you. However our personal and State security and National security depend on it. No military training can make up for a lack of lifetime training in the safety and use of firearms. Look at Medal of Honor winners like Sgt. York and Lt. Audie Murphy. Did they learn all their firearm skills in a few weeks in the US Army? Of course not! Name one Medal of Honor or even Silver Star winner who never touched a firearm before basic training? They don't exist!
