My admiration of Daniel Pipes is somewhat lessened after reading such a distorted article. Words Not to be Uttered about Islam

CAIR Canada is not trying to censor the term "sharia". It accurately pointed out that the limited and voluntary alternative dispute resolution process is not a full-fledged Islamic court that can be inferred from the word "sharia". The rulings of the tribunal can not be enforced if they violate the provisions of Canadian law or the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

The issue in the second part of the article actually was about the photographs required for permanent resident status. Pipes tries to leave the impression that Prime Minister Paul Martin wishes to let a Muslim women keep her hijab on to the point of hiding her facial features. What the PM actually wrote confirmed that Immigration Canada does not require the head covering to be completely removed, but for security purposes, all facial features must be visible for the photographs.
