I know that the business of running a political thread these days is beyond difficult.
I do think, though, that it's a precarious balance between having a good number of "unbelievers" (for lack of a better term)to argue with, versus a long litany of articles and back-patting that is the inevitable result of throwing every disagreer off the thread.
So, folks like Andrew Cothran and Ann Corrigan, who are articulate and intelligent-- however politically misguided they may be-- should be given a simple cooling-off period, say 24 or 48 hours. Frankly, I think the "GFY"s and namecalling on the part of some of our rougher-around-the-edges posters should be clipped as well (AS is who I think of in this regard). Maybe a public announcement of a new thread header, which states that no one will be allowed to engage in that manner and will be "put in the corner" for a day.....
FWIW, I enjoyed posting to Ann and Andrew-- iut was easy to expose them for their lack of thinking things through.
Now my thoughts:
I have mentioned you as one of the few whoo post on this thread who is anti Kerry but have not been banned because your posts are very civil in nature. Besides the two PM's mentioned above, I also received several PM's in your favor after you were banned. So there is no disagreement on the fact that we all like to have you as a part of our discussion. But at the same time I would suggest that you do not keep beating a issue to detah. Now I may have also done the same as you and I will take care that I do not do so also.
So I am welcoming you back with the hope that you will not only continue to be civil as you always have, but also bring some real thought provoking discussions.<<
