"No insider buying, no deals".

The "real" insider buying takes place long before the deal is announced. They have to hold the stock six months to be allowed to keep any profits.

Insider buying shorter term than that is typically insiders who figure out something is going on.

Novell's only insider buying that could point to a deal was well over a year ago when 3 board members bought within a very short time. They would be the ones in the know if the company was being shopped, and would get in before the "window" closed.

The front line guys, CFO's, VP's, etc., are the ones who buy when the numbers are going to look better.
