My PH D is in American Intellectual History and Culture from the University of Maryland.
I served as the Cultural Attache at the American Embassy in Oslo, Norway, when Lyndon Baines Johnson was President. I had to defend his actions in Vietnam as hard as it was to do so at the time.

I was also the Chairman of the United States Educational Foundation--Norway, charged with administering the Fulbright Educational Exchange Program in Norway.

Since resigning from the State Department, I have been President of two colleges and a professor of American History. I still teach on a part-time basis, giving me time to concentrate on my research and writing.

Do I find the majority of academia to be liberal to left leaning? Yes, now and in the past. Most of the members of academia are convinced that they are the grand repository of the only essential truths and they will share those truths ONLY with those students and others who pass their litmus tests when it comes to politics and contemporary social and cultural issues. I can't tell you how many times I have seen students actually persecuted by their left-leaning and liberal professors because they (the students) failed to regurgitate the approved political, social and cultural LINE advocated by their teachers. I have had to mediate many confrontations between a student and his professor to make sure that student rights were not infringed.

I learned a long time ago that you cannot argue with the liberal mind. You can only state your position and expect to be attacked. I have been attacked much because my postion is diametrically opposed to theirs. We have word wars continually. It is in these battles that I have honed my sword. Sometimes I render a telling blow. Most of the time, I am careful merely to stand and keep on talking and writing.

Thanks for you interest and your encouraging words. I will keep on posting on these threads because sometimes, my words strike a responsive thread and cause a thoughtful mind to truly examine the evidence before jumping to a preconceived conclusion.
