A) Saddam's government gave shelter (and a government job) to the terrorist indicted for mixing the explosives used in the 1993 WTC attack. That's in essence what the Taliban government did in sheltering Al Qaida.

B) Iraq sponsored attacks on Americans in the Philippines
Philippines expels two Iraqis ...
Last month Manila expelled Husham Hussein for his alleged contacts with Abu Sayyaf, an Islamist rebel group which is listed by the US as a terrorist organisation.
Intelligence officials said Mr Hussein was found to have received a call from Abu Sayyaf shortly after an October bomb attack in the southern Philippines which killed three people, including a US soldier.
Last week, a further 11 Iraqis were arrested in an anti-terrorist sweep, and deportation proceedings are currently under way against them.
Immigration Commissioner Andrea Domingo said the men had been monitored for terrorist activities for some time, and were thought to be part of an "established network" connected to Mr Hussein.
Philippine intelligence reports have previously warned that terrorist groups sympathetic to Iraq were planning attacks against American targets in the Philippines.

C) Putin says Iraq planned US attack
Russian President Vladimir Putin says that after the 9/11 attacks Moscow warned Washington that Saddam Hussein was planning attacks on the US.
He said Russia's secret service had information on more than one occasion that Iraq was preparing acts of terror in the US and its facilities worldwide.

D) Musab al-Zarqawi was operating a terror cell out of Iraq which murdered US diplomat Lawrence Foley Amman in late 2002. Zarqawi has been tried in absentia in Jordan and sentenced to death for this crime.

E) The Clinton administration says Saddam tied to assassinate former President Bush in 1993:
Then-President Bill Clinton ordered the FBI and the CIA to investigate the 180-pound bomb that had been packed into a Toyota four-wheel-drive vehicle and was connected to a remote control detonator.
The agencies concluded on June 23 that the bomb had been assembled by the Iraqi intelligence service, an agency under Saddam's thumb.
The investigation unearthed "compelling evidence that there was in fact a plot to assassinate former President Bush," Clinton announced as he ordered two U.S. warships to launch a total of 23 cruise missiles against the Iraqi intelligence headquarters in Baghdad on June 26, 1993.

Why do so many Democrats want to defend a man (Saddam) with American blood on his hands?
