0.25 is pretty much state-of-the-art for large fab. MOT and IBM have
just come on line, INTL is a bit behind schedule.

Smaller dimensions are demo'd or done in the lab, but these processes
can not yet be scaled up either for the die size or fab size needed
to produce consumer CPUs like PPC or Pentium. Also, 0.18 is probably
near the limit for current fab technology. Smaller features will
require significantly greater investment and perhaps a change in the
technological paradigm currently used in the fab. Finally, as we
go down in critical dimension, it becomes harder to produce defect
free die. This, more than heat production, may be where the PPC will
have an advantage over the Pentium, due to the much lower transistor
count.
