I tried to do this [from the link you gave me]

I'd been arguing with my notepad for about 2 weeks now and couldnt get it fixed! Copying it from the Windows directory to the System32 directory fixed it immediately!

I did find a notepad.exe under C:\WINDOWS that worked when I opened it and so tried to copied it to System 32 [couldn't find it]

so what I did was right click on it and send to, desktop create a shortcut

and it works

but, when I click on start, all programs, accessories, the corrupted Notepad opens into Registry Editor

so, I just use the shortcut one I created and to hell with the other one
