Dubya laid out some exquisite gambits for Kerry in his VFW speech yesterday. Kerry has no choice now, for example, but to explain to these veterans why he voted for the $87B appropriation bill before voting against it. And his predictable answer will reveal again why Al Qaeda, the Iranian mullahs and the North Koreans are all buying time and hoping like mad that Kerry wins. Perceptions matter and Kerry is already perceived as a weak leader whose domestic political base is even weaker. That will definitely allow Al Qaeda to rebuild its organization and allow Iran and North Korea to become full-pledged nuclear powers even before the baby boomers start to retire around the end of the decade.
