I had a client with AIDS who was trying to get Social Security Disability, but the VA kept dicking him around with the records. He fell down in the VA hospital shower, hit his head and went into a coma, that finally got him the SSD but he died the next month.

I visited him in the VA hospital in DC, never saw a hospital that dirty or messy except for "Big Charity" in New Orleans, also a government run hospital.

Once we finally got the records it was a cakewalk, backpay all the way back to the date of filing, his family was glad to have it but he could have had better treatment during his lifetime via Medicare, maybe would have lived, or at least lived longer.
