I bet Bush has a National Defense Medal. Like tax avoidance, nothing wrong with Vietnam war avoidance. I don't think thats what Bush did intentionally as he didn't control McNamaras deployment decisions of guard units and Bush applied for Palace Alert and was turned down. My question is why did Kerry return to the US after 4 months. He could have stayed if he wanted to. Looks like Vietnam avoidance to me, but as I said, nothing wrong with that. Kerry's Vietnam fitreps--the grades he received in areas like initiative, were actually quite bad.
