What I do not understand is how Bush, by not even showing up, has demonstrated better leadership. It is a point that is noticeably missing in the discussion.

No one here claims it is. Bush got by with the National guard service. He was pummeled about it in 2000 and again this year. It is what it is. The point is, he filed a form 180 and anybody can write the Pentagon and get a full copy of all his records. The media did that and put them under a microscope. After all the muttering was done, the issue had to be dropped. There was nothing found that hurt him that much. You may disagree, but the media has dropped it. Bush's ability to lead was proven after 911. You may disagree, but that is what is being discussed.

Kerry has turned his record into the centerpiece of his campaign. Now that it is being questioned, the Kerry Kamp claimed yesterday that all of his records are on line. Yet they ask us to take his word for it. Why should we? The Dems wouldn't take Bush's word for it. He could clear up a lot of this confusion if he would file a form 180. He refuses to.

Expect to read a lot about this.
