Hi tc,

You may or may not remember but I had reoccurring problems with Win XP search.

FWIW, I typed in "SFC(space)/SCANNOW...into RUN cmd and hit enter... follow prompts"
annoyances.org

That cleared up part of the problem because search after initially starting, would still hang, so I brought up Task Manager, under Applications & clicked on search (not responding) & then end task.

After doing that, I then disabled indexing service & disabled the animated screen character (under the change preferences icon) on search companion.

I don't know which of those steps worked.... but search companion is now working flawlessly.

BTW, still no problems with SP2 <gulp>!
