got a surprise phone call this morning from K. Richebacher
he is doing well, minor health nagging problems though
I had sent him an attached email with a Duetschebank report
on oil and its impact on G7 economies

it must have struck a chord (in title)
but he could not open the file, a PDF file
so I will mail it to him in Cannes France

we talked about 15 minutes, pleasantly
I reminded him of his claim that in 12 months from Aug 2003, the US Economy will begin to collapse
and now we see added signs of strain

I talked about the job outsourcing
and how infotech spending had been strong
but was a principal lever in the job outsourcing process

he talked about the drop in consumer spending
to prove I have read his work, I laughed that US households are saving more
but reminded him of hedonics in the savings numbers
like home paid rent to homeowners, a statistical fraud
he laughed, and we agreed all USGovt statistics are flawed

he then shocked me, by asking how my subscriptions are doing
I gave him a rundown, and shared my optimism
and how they continue to stream in
like 3 new subscribers in the last 24 hrs
(I did not bother to mention how Silicon Investor buddies are an effing NO-SHOW among subscriber support
I may offer up some tidbits on SI, but nothing like in newsletters)

I dont think Kurt's German-made PC is loaded with PDF reading sofware
strange if true
it was nice to know he was still civil and constructive
I occasionally email him a brief note
like last month
when I reminded him that a 90% falloff in REFI mortgage volume might be offset somewhat by a surge in home equity loans on variable rates
no reply from him, and also, no attachment on those
