I prefer to think that perhaps someone who has seen war up close might think twice before tossing out international inspectors to launch a pre emptive attack based on faulty intelligence - at a cost of 950 dead Americans, 5,000 wounded Americans and heaven knows how many dead and wounded Iraqis and $200 billion down the drain.

Last time I looked at CNN fighting was pretty heavy in Iraq and no troops were coming home anytime soon. I wouldn't call that war "won". By the way, we heard about WMD every day before the war until, well, slowly, the word "terrorism" began to be substituted for "WMD". When exactly did the reason for the war change?

Iran is falling over itself trying to go nuclear and threatening a "first strike", Korea is stalling, our threat level is "elevated" because Osama is at large and planning another strike while we chase strawmen in Iraq. Oh, and didn't our good buddy, Musharrif, award a medal to the Pakistani scientist at the center of the nuke proliferation ring?

And let's not forget this little matter the CBO brought up... when Bush took office we were looking at a $5 trillion surplus over the next decade - the latest CBO forecast is for $5 trillion deficit. But as Cheney says... "it doesn't matter."

IRAN has hit back at hawkish US comments over its nuclear program, warning it reserves the right to launch a pre-emptive strike against US forces in the Middle East to prevent any attack on its atomic facilities.
