BTW, isn't it a bit disingenuous of you to claim that the people without health insurance necessarily can't afford it and offer yourself up as proof? By your own admission, you made the conscious choice not to buy insurance because 1) at the market price, you felt the risk (of major health problems) did not justify the cost of the insurance and 2) you'd RATHER spend the money on something else.

Sorry wail-man, but that's classic free-market economic decision-making, not a choice that was imposed upon you by greedy capitalists, failed policy or even your own unfortunate circumstances. In fact, it seems more reasonable to conclude that your personal economic circumstances being relatively good is what has enabled you to take a risk that others may not be able to take.
