Well, at least Nightline didn't have Ted Koppel on
tonight. They began by covering the Swift Boat Vets as
Republican/Bush connected, anti-Kerry vets who have an ad
out that attacks Kerry's Vietnam service. They pointed out
the ad is at odds with the "official" Navy version as well
as Kerry's version of events. In fact Nightline made a
point of citing twice how the Swifties version was at odds
with "official" Navy records & Kerry's version.

Then they made a point of citing evidence that contradicts
the Swift Boat Vets. Kerry's attack on Bush & the Swifites
was given play. They noted that Bush has not denounced the
Swifites & played McCain's admonishment of them where he
said Bush should too.

None of the serious allegations from the Swifties were
highlighted. They didn't mention that Kerry's Cambodia
story had to be retracted or that his "No Man Left Behind"
story had to be changed too.

And no one from the Swift Boat Vets was interviewed for
the show. They did play a few short clips of a few of
them, but nothing of substance.

At least some of the story got out there & it wasn't a
complete smear job on the Swifties.
