The Swiftvet book really pissed me off. I know it is true.
Some 15-20 years ago. one of my daughters was going through some old stuff of mine and found a small box full of medals.
She asked about them. I told her they were just a collection from my Army days like my old fishing lures. She persisted.
Eventually she figured it all out and had them mounted and framed. She insists that I keep them hanging in my office for her children to see.
A coupla years later she and my wife found an envelope with the matching certificates and a few photos and made them into a scrapbook.
I promised her, my other daughter and my son to divide all that stuff including, the medals, ribbons, scrapbook, badges, my SF decader ring, The Beret I wore last in Nam, my SFA Beret, the SFA blazer and patch, the SFA Badge of Honor, the old SF Rolex, my old SF Demo knife and my new SF Yarborough knife between them.
If Kerry wins, I will go ahead and give the kids everything but the medals and ribbons. Those I will throw over the White House fence at the first opportunity. I will invite my SF friends to witness or participate. unclewest |
