Skerry has made a campaign issue of his own military service. It's the centerpiece of Skerry's campaign. It isn't an issue at all for Bush.
Skerry's 4 months of playing Rambo and shooting innocent civilians in the back is Skerry's issue because Skerry has made it such. Skerry wants us to elect him BECAUSE of it, not despite it ('cause he hasn't done jack in the senate for 19 years, including, it turns out, skipping his duties on the Intelligence Committee).
"REPORTING FOR DUTY, SIR." "I SERVED IN VIETNAM." "THAT'S WHY I SHOULD BE ELECTED." That's Kerry talking, not Bush.
Bush is talking about the war on terror, the economy, and the real issues. He's NOT saying, "I served in the TANG, so I should be elected."
