one interesting point thurlow made in passing on the scarborough interview was that they were there at the mined boat for 1.5 hours. apparently they rescued the guys, kept the mined swift boat from sinking, and somehow got the mined boat to the LST (that is what i heard him say) craft that was theirs. this small time detail is an eye opener for me. if they were there on site 1.5 hours, it is hard to believe there was enemy fire coming in. if fire did come in, they could not have worked 1.5 hours in the area without a lot of dead vc being identified or high-tailing vc being observed.

anyway i don't think they would have stayed around 1.5 hours working the mined boat with incoming fire of any kind.
