Actually you are right about not fighting post WW2 wars the same but there are reasons for this that has wide acceptance by both parties. The battle is for the minds of men. With the islamists they attacked us and when located all force is justified. What exactly did the Vietnamese do to us that would have warranted more carnage than we gave them. And then of course as in Korea, there was the nuclear armed soviets on the other side and in Korea, the Russians could have launched a ground war across europe and the chinese well i guess we could have nuked them too. Stupid stupid stupid.
