Perhaps it was meant to be a compliment. Aren't we all, really, complete and utter slime? Consider the nature of our innards- are they not all utterly slimey? Consider how we are born (and conceived)- all slime. Consider our evolution- again, from the slime we came- and to it we will return as we rot- or should we be burnt and scattered somewhere, we will most certainly encounter slimey mud at some point- and again, slime. No, I am convinced that "you people are complete and utter slime" is in fact a great metaphysical statement, and owes more to Darwin and our place in the universe as human beings and universally slimey creatures than you may, at first blush, have realized.
