Gus > Well, before promoting "US interests" abroad, in the remote deserts of Central Asia and the Mideast, the US must care about its interests AT HOME, mustn't it? Now, it's more and more obvious that the US is currently torn apart by a form of cultural civil war --religious conservatives vs liberals. In that perspective, the Judeo-Protestant ideology is part and parcel of the US's domestic interests, and a key tenet of Judeo-Protestantism is Israel <
Yes, I agree, there is, as you say, a tacit war in the US -- religious conservatives vs liberals, but as far as I can see, most Americans are not involved in it. In fact, most Americans are not even interested to go to the polls to vote. But, taking your point that the key to US domestic problems is Israel, what is it that the US wants to achieve in the MidEast? Destroy the place, occupy the place, plunder the place, convert all the Muslims to Christianity? What? Despite all Israel's big ideas and greed for land, it simply doesn't have the people to take over all of Islam or even a chunk of it. An Israel stretching from the Nile to Mesopotamia is a fantasy, no, a delusion of grandeur, of people clearly suffering from a paranoid psychosis -- and there's no doubt that both Sharon and Bush Jnr do.

In my opinion, if WW3 is intended to benefit Israel then it is a war about an absurdity. Unless it commits genocide on the Muslims Israel has to lose. And if it does that -- well?! To fight forever and by so doing destroy one's own country is an exercise in futility because the Palestinians are not going away. Despite all the David and Goliath fables, five million Israelis plus a few million Zionists here and there can't fight a one and a half billion Muslims. So, unless Israel makes peace, and soon, increasing emigration plus natural attrition of the population will destroy the country from within. What Israel needs is not only land -- it's Viagra. It's people -- and there aren't any more. and, as I say, more than anything, Israel needs peace. |
