Bin Laden been dead since Tora Bora bombing.

I think it's kind of obvious that this man has met his maker. Can't prove it of course. There will always be a measure of doubt. But consider this:

1) No new videos of bin Laden since September, 2003 and that video was probably made long before. Bin Laden loved the publicity. Loved getting his message out, heating up the extremists and taunting the western world. He wouldn't be silent by choice.

2) Last video we saw showed him as pale a ghost with apparent arm injury. Only the healthy survive the rigors of a sparse desert environment.

3) Rumors abounded that he was a dialysis patient. If true, tough to find a good dialysis machine and operator in the desert.

4) The few purported audio recordings of him were always of very poor quality and unknown origins. No new recordings in quite a while.

5) El Qaeda followers who might know his fate may have vested interest in keeping him 'alive' whether he is or not. Qaeda would lose a lot of moral and spiritual support if it became known that bin Laden was bin gone. Muslim extremists who perform Jihad with the will of Allah aren't supposed to die prematurely.

6) They've captured dozens of top el Qaeda people in the past three years. You'd think at least one of them would know what happened to Laden. Yet, complete silence by the US and it's allies about Laden's fate. Perhaps a good reason for this. It may be in the US's interest to keep bin Laden's death a secret. It justifies continuing action against el Qaeda and Taliban worldwide. Of course, equally possible the US simply doesn't know.

7) If bin Laden is dead (or captured) would be wiser for Bush administration to reveal this a week or two before election. In politics timing is everything no matter how crass or self-serving the motive.

In a way, this will amount to major clue as to bin Laden's fate. No way will the Bush administration pass up the opportunity to share bin Laden's mortal fate in a close election. If presidential election passes with no announcement about Laden's fate this will be tantamount to proof that the administration is in the dark about his whereabouts.

8)....and, by the way, whatever happened to Mullah Omar?

Funny how people just seem to 'disappear' in Afghanistan.
