Not only is the current Iraq war mainly about oil, but control of Middle East oil has been a main policy objective of the U.S./British governments for generations, going back to at least WWI. The government knows how important oil is to industrialized countries like ours. Why else would the U.S./British even care about the Middle East?!? If it wasn't for oil, the Middle East would be a pretty irrelevant part of the world, about as relevant as the Saharah or Siberia. The U.S./British have been slowly building up bases in and around the Middle East for decades, and it's not to keep a firm grip on the camel trade.
