Cooters, I agree with you on your analysis. Any brokerage analyst forecast of specific earnings numbers is pure speculation. If one was cynical, one could surmise that some self-serving brokerage analysts would low-ball their earnings estimates to allow their favorite clients to buy-in cheap while making the resulting consensus earnings estimates easier to beat and increase later.
