Rood was not on Kerry's boat. That has been one of Kerry's only arguments against the Swiftvets so why should we believe Rood. Well it turns out that Rood's account does not help Kerry.

Rood's account does not even agree with the silver star citation that we believe Kerry wrote. Of course he fails to mention that.

Kerry's crewmen Michael Medeiros and Larry Lee tell it differently too. Page 82 of the book explains that a prior agreement to beach the boats was agreed upon...and likely heroism awards for certain individuals were discussed even before the action began.

There are some other minor differences but nothing that would be surprising considering that Rood was not on Kerry's boat.

The biggest difference I see is that Reese an Army man who was there says the first boat to beach was the one he was on and not Kerry's. Reese and two other advisors along with S Vietnamese troops (not Kerry) disembarked and killed a number of VC and captured the weapons. Page 83 tells the story of the wounded VC.

The significant difference being that Rood who was not on Kerry's boat says he wore typical VC clothing while Reese who was on-shore and battling the enemy says he was wearing a loincloth (which is typical VC clothing in some areas).

Kerry never mentioned the Army soldiers in his after action report nor in his book and the fact they killed the VC and captured the weapons that are part of Kerry's Silver Star citation.

Rood is fine. But he is not a defense against the Swiftees.
Anyone who has read the book will see that.

Kerry's very manliness seems to be attached to that Silver Star. I hope it don't hurt tooo bad.

I went to the Barnes and Noble in Spokane again today to buy some books for mailing and was told they still have no books. The manager told me he got a fax explaining that the books are distributed on the East Coast and none have made it to the West coast yet.
I'm not sure I believe that.
