Second, Kerry showed great courage speaking out against the war

My memories of 1971 are a little hazy, but I definitely recall that being anti-war at that point was not sticking your neck out politically speaking. Indeed, Kerry made a name for himself with the whole VVAW thing.

Third, any post that repeats the SmearVets garbage is despicable. It is beneath you. Shame on you.


I was speaking of Kerry's testimony, and speaking factually. The Swiftvets say that they found Kerry's testimony insulting and hurtful, as they were not war criminals but had just been labelled so. There really is no rebuttal to that, unless you can show that the veterans in question were in fact guilty as charged of war crimes.

Kerry did testify to common war crimes, and was not specific as to what percentage of soldiers were guilty, or what units did or did not commit them. If a soldier had seen combat, I could see how he would feel that Kerry had been talking about him.
