I think the Republican Party has become a militaristic force--and one that is a rather irrational militaristic force. The Democratic Party under Bill Clinton veered more to the center where "Scoop" Jackson roamed the terrain. John Kerry recognizes the serious dangers of the 21st Centrury and that the terrain occupied by Clinton and Jackson is the appropriate place to roam too.
