Yes, the attacks are effective. And yes, the ends are seen by many to justify the means. But how will you feel when the opposition learns to do the same thing and we end up with all form and no substance underlying our democratic process? How would you feel if a bunch of old democratic class buddies of Bush started lying about Bush, and it cost him the election? This scorched earth process is bad for the country.

Oh well, it's our own fault if we fall for the old "no one knows the truth," and the old "where there's smoke there's fire," deceptions.
