On the other hand, US and British anti-Communist propaganda had often skewed/manufactured "facts" to scare the hell out of folks all over SE Asia and elsewhere, and to so outrage the folks in America that they would give their president their undying support against the Communist menace. Once I was out of Thailand and back in N. America, I could see that a number of things I heard from both sides turned out to be false propaganda. Mr. Bush's demonization of Saddam Hussein as well as his scare-mongering tactics regarding Iraq's possession of WMD ring a bell, doesn't it?
