>>I'd say, screw that, I'M IN CHARGE. Now, let's move and see what's going on.

while you certainly know yourself better than i do, i think this statement is possibly a bit presumptious on your part.

>>Maybe the problem is that the President (any one, not just Bush) is getting 'handled' too much; by security, PR, advisors, pollsters. Are we getting to the point where the President is more of a cybernetic function than leader?

perhaps, but we seem to have a dearth of intelligent, strong-willed, independent thinking candidates these days. such people are not likely to get into politics (or survive the "initiation rituals" morally intact)... and those who are tough enough have likely pissed off too many people to get the presidential nod. besides, the vast majority of our population can hardly be trusted to think for itself, ... why should our policians be any different.

I'd like to see Giuliani run for pres. He is a bit too hard line for me on some issues, but I think he would make a strong overall candidate. I also think Powell would make an interesting pres, though he indicated that he doesn't have the interest. On the democrat side, I don't think Kerry was a bad choice, but I for one have not been inspired by his record so far. However, I didn't see anyone else in the dem camp that looked better.
