Another Brick in the wall for a great unfolding story.
IP PBX by Interactive Intelligence Wins TMC Labs Innovation Award

INDIANAPOLIS, Aug 23, 2004 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- TMC Labs
honored global business communications software developer, Interactive
Intelligence Inc. (Nasdaq: ININ), with a 2004 Innovation Award for the company's
IP PBX product, called Enterprise Interaction Center(R) (EIC).

"We raved about the modularity, openness, and extreme flexibility of EIC back in
1999," said TMC Labs staff in an Internet Telephony article published this
month. "But now with EIC's SIP support, they've taken their IP PBX
communications system to a whole other level."

TMC Labs honored EIC with the award based on several innovations throughout the
product's history, beginning with its claim as one of the first open,
Windows-based PC PBXs on the market.

Since its introduction in 1997, EIC has grown to incorporate a wide range of
applications, from unified messaging and workgroup routing, to Web chat and
"hot-desking," which provides anywhere access for mobile users.

It's also made important IP advancements that include support of SIP -- the
emerging session initiation protocol designed to simplify set-up and maintenance
in distributed environments, increase interoperability with other devices, and
enable new features that extend beyond voice-based applications, such as instant
messaging and video conferencing.

In addition, EIC was one of the first IP telephony products to incorporate
Intel's NetStructure Host Media Processing software, effectively eliminating the
need for voice boards, thus reducing cost, shortening installation time, and
simplifying management.

Today, EIC is offered by Vonexus Inc, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Interactive
Intelligence. Vonexus has taken EIC even further with enhancements that make it
the only standards-based, all-software IP PBX developed exclusively for
Microsoft small-to-mid-sized business customers.

"Since spinning off Vonexus this year, EIC has even more to offer -- not only
does it still give customers all the features and functionality they've come to
expect, it's now a true 'out-of-the-box' system perfect for Microsoft SMB
customers looking for a cost-effective, yet complete converged communications
system from the leader in all-software IP telephony," said Interactive
Intelligence president and chief executive officer, Dr. Donald E. Brown.

EIC was one of 27 winners honored by TMC Labs. The Innovation Awards are given
annually across a range of product and service types, including testing tools,
applications and media servers, phones, and more. For detailed descriptions of
