Here is the reason why, IMO.

The challenge is to Kerry's awards. It is not to Kerry but to the process that existed at that time. What Kerry's opponents are saying that the system was screwed up since people like Kerry be awarded. If folks want to start an investigation into that it does not need Kerry's signature. The Swiftboat folks can start that investigation right now.

Now if they do prove that the system was flawed, then many of those folks would also have to give their own awards since they obtained it in a fraudulent way in a fraudulent system.

Since the Swiftboat veterans are challenging the system, it is for the Commander-in-Chief to step up to the plate and protect the practices and procedures in place in the system.

Now mjfdl, it looks that you are new to this thread and I would welcome you. But none the same I would expect you to exercise your reasoning and not merely bring rhetoric to this thread. What papers does Kerry need to sign here. There is nothing of his personnel records involved. We all know he was in Vietnam.

The awards he received and why he received them are a matter of public record. It is there for all to see. It is all public. So why do you relay the questions posed by the right wing media to this thread? Let us bring topics which have some merit, OK.
