"For me, as for LindyBill, the really fascinating aspect for the story is to watch the way it is percolating through New and Old Media."

For me its how it will affect the presidential campaign. So far it has helped bush by reversing their move to kerry after the dem convention. But at some point it will become counterproductive for bush reelection and since the convention is designed as an attempt to reach moderate and indy voters, the swiftboaters can do much harm in this. I have been a bush supporter but i do not want another tie outcome in this election. For bush to gain a clear win, he needs some moderates and indys to reverse. This will not happen with what they perceive as dirty politics is going on. So next week, bush needs this to die down but to me it appears that the vietnam revisionists and rt wing ideologues have gotten a hold of this and they like "being right" more than they like victory. LIke goldwater in 64 and mcgovern in 72 if you get my drift. mike
