Okay. I will re-phrase:

The accounts in the book are from people who fought with Kerry, the author of the book fought in Vietnam, where Kerry fought.

My point was that these guys represented in the book, have a right to gripe about John Kerry if they want.

Anyone who fought in Vietnam, but especially those with contact with Kerry, would be upset hearing themselves characterized as murderers and rapists. It's not something you would expect to hear from one of your "Band of Brothers".
