You have to remember that there is a large gap between Eastern and Western perceptions and therefore thought process: We Americans [Westerners squared] tend to be overly object conscious... what's happening now, overweight the latest data point, oblivious to background/long term causations and complexities in favor of real time categorizations and actions. Apparently we have those damn Greeks [historically] to blame!! So we shine when the 'trend is your friend', and base our friendships on who's on board that trend.

You Easterners OTOH overweight things like relationships, backgroung causations and causes, the 'big picture', and tend to ignore or downplay the latest event... rather looking to make sense of it in a larger context rather than taking action.

I think it was Chou EN Lai when asked what he tought about the effects of the French Revolution: "IT's too early to tell".

That is why your opinion is so valuable to me. We all learn from each other.
