I was thinking along the lines of not naming or showing any candidate in a 527 AD. So an attack AD is OK if you don't name the candidate ... just thinking as I'm typing.

I am trying to balance free expression with the public need for a somewhat honest presentation (most people don't read, so Ads are very effective). Bush / Rove has mastered the strategy of having shadow groups do their wet work. Just imagine the SmearVets Ad: "I served in Vietnam and some people weren't truthful" It wouldn't have any punch.

MoveOn has some new ADs that are IMO over the line. They have people saying "I'm voting for John Kerry" with the tag line "Voting for John Kerry" on the bottom. I haven't seen them on TV (just the net) and maybe that makes a difference.
