michael, I agree that the incidents in Nam, have been wrung out for every drop there is. It would be good for the nation if the subject was no longer the primary issue in the campaign. If I was advising Bush, I would suggest centering on Kerry's weak, and negative, contributions to the process of the Senate during the entire range of his existence there. That could, very well, be more damaging than the medal controversy, because, as you said, weird things happen in combat that no one is proud of, but for the most part, none of the participants make those incidents a major issue to qualify them for the White House.
