Ann, if Bush wins I would think it VERY likely that he will do so ONLY with electoral votes.
I would be very surprised if Kerry didn't win the popular vote by a much larger margin than Gore did in 2000.

That being said, I think that if Bush does get re-elected it might very well be the end of the electoral college.
