There are many men that can't accept the truth and will feel the need to believe that Vietnam was truly a cause worth fighting for. It consoles their soul and bathes them in justification for their actions. Afterall, that's why men go to war isn't it? TO say there is no justification is to have wrapped yourself in the flag and risked your life for nothing. For some it means they killed others for no just reason. It's a harsh reality and most unpleasant to men who were raised to honor life.

But, the truth remains coldly evident that the war was political and not able to be won by modern standards. The civil war that ran through the native population undermined any military action the Americans could generate.

Facing the truth was the action of brave men who could stand up against the gov't forces, face the facts and boldly express the need to withdraw. That is the sign of a leader...........one who truly took no polls but firmly and
bravely expressed his feelings which had been formed from raw experience on the battlefield in southeast Asia.
