What does this really mean? c-cube.com Hmm, techweb.cmp.com Sun platform lights fire under tepid NC "Moreover, some observers are wondering why Sun Microsystems' new reference platform, called JavaEngine 1, isn't powered by one of the company's long-awaited Java-specific microprocessors (they aren't expected to be available until early next year), but rather *by a 100-MHz embedded Microsparc-IIep CPU*. Sun is aiming the JavaEngine 1 specifically at OEMs looking to construct their own thin-client systems which can function as low-cost Web browsers, Internet phones or diskless word-processing boxes. "We're enabling OEMs to incorporate Java computing into any system they build," said Dhaval Ajmera, marketing director at Sun. "We're selling soup to nuts--OEMs can buy a chip, they can get a design kit with schematics and software, or they can buy a complete board."
