Well said uw. My expressed concerns didn't change my approach to what is happening. If anything it has firmed my resolve to do what I can. As any good soldier knows, it's important to occasionally step back & assess the situation. I did & I reported what I perceived to be happening. Folks who are watching this closely by getting into the nitty gritty by vetting the facts & following the blogs can clearly see the lies, deceit & hypocrisy the Swiftees exposed. We can clearly see that the liberal media is spiking the real story, spouting DNC talking points & spreading their lies as if they were fact. Yet they refuse to perform even a cursory investigation to give a ballanced report to their readers. Folks like us now know how unfit Kerry is to be President. They also know how blatant the liberal media has become in their zeal to help Kerry beat Bush by any means necessary. What I don't see is anyone considering how many folks out there are not being exposed to the whole story thanks to the liberal media. No one is seriously considering the potential for this to have a negative backlash against Bush since both Team Kerry & the liberal media are relentlessly portraying it as a Bush backed smear job from a bunch of right wing liars. You, LB, the good folks on this thread & the blogs are not pounding away on TV, the news & in print 24/7 to most of America. Team Kerry & the liberal media reach most of them over & over with their BS. We could well be in a bit of a cocoon with the knowledge we regularly share. We're comfortable that the truth has been put on display. Unfortunately our shared knowledge is not widely known in America. Similarly, the liberal media is in its own cocoon. They are convincing themselves they have thoroughly vetted this story & reported the facts to America - the Swiftees are a bunch of discredited liars who are part of a vast right wing smear campaign headed by Bush. No doubt some are knowingly ignoring damning evidence, but the end result is the same. It is how they are reporting the story 24/7. And they aren't reporting how Team Kerry is panicking, attempting to squelch freedom of speech & expression. They aren't reporting that Kerry isn't addressing any of the charges himself, that he refuses to release all of his records & he has been caught in serious lies about his past. I think my concern is real. If we stay smug in our cocoon & they in theirs, a large number of Americans might well decide that Bush is the real liar in the Swift Boat ruckus. JMHO
