I got kicked off lindy bill for pushing this thought. I think politically bush has gotten all the advantage from the swiftboaters and it turns out not to be very much. As i understand the polls now, bush picked up popular votes but not electoral votes. Most vets who switched must live in the red states. And some indys and mods were turned off by what they saw as nixonian tactics.
So as a bush supporter myself, i think swiftys should shut up now and let the convention be all about a large tent. For bush to win many folks who opposed the vietnam war(like me) need to be included along with non-cons on social policy. Cheney and gay marriage was the first move in this direction. I dont know how many bush gets with an open tent but the alternative is an electoral college defeat imo. Need to get some more moderates in contested states back onboard. On Bills thread i was run off because of this heresy. Mike
