I will try to steer clear of policy debates and just stay with the politics. I think that you are correct. Republicans and even the supply siders among them should stress that the deficit in the last four years is mostly war related and that the democrat cries for balance budget are really a call for tax increase for increase spending to make some current discretionary spending entitlements. American people may be dumb about a lot of things but not about matters that affect their pocket books. Some in the middle who now are undecided or leaning toward kerry will switch if this is presented to them effectively. Also social issues like a bush announcement that there will be a review of stem cell by a new commission post election can have similar results. Kerry is winning but if bush team is really as good as they think they are, the above is certainly doable. Also the swiftys gotta tone it down. Refighting vietnam may have garnered some more vet votes but it will turn off more folks in key states and ultimately a backlash nationwide. mike
