There is little speculation in oil futures and these idiots are talking about releasing SPR. As you noted Chinese would be happy to buy oil at below market price as long as US taxpayers pay the difference.

WASHINGTON -- Officials in the U.S. and other industrialized nations are considering whether to dip into strategic reserves of 1.4 billion barrels of oil stockpiled to offset future supply disruptions and curb soaring prices, as the world's oil producers reach the limits of their ability to pump excess supplies.
